Arts & Cafts

Arts & Crafts:

Point Hope is a subsistence community, and the creation of arts and crafts is a time-honored tradition. Some of the artwork that Point Hope is known for includes baleen baskets, bone masks, Eskimo yo-yos, ivory and bone carvings, ivory and baleen jewelry and scrimshaw pieces. Tikigaq Corporation frequently purchases Native arts and crafts from Tikigaq shareholders to help support their subsistence lifestyle. The artwork from Point Hope is very diverse. Items are for sale at our Anchorage office location. Tikigaq Corporation also purchases booth space at many of the arts and craft fairs throughout Anchorage. People often come seeking a particular item or work produced by a particular artist. If we do not have a certain item, we can help the customer get in contact with the artist.

Greetings Tikigaq Shareholders,

As many of you may know, Tikigaq Corporation along with multiple other entities, recently received CARE’s ACT funding to provide assistance for our shareholders and shareholder operations within our community in dealing with the impacts of COVID-19.  We are working diligently to follow the US Treasury Guidelines and thoughtfully provide this relief within the constraints of the CARE’s ACT and the funding received.

Soon you will see temperature screeners in strategic public locations within the community.   This are designed to read and provide immediate feedback on body temperature.  An elevated body temperature is one of the early indicators of the potential onset of COVID-19.  This concept has been deployed throughout the United States and has been successful in the early detection of COVID-19 and preventing the potential spread to others.

Currently one is in place at the school and the other three will be assembled soon and put in place at the clinic, store and Corporate office.

These contact-less automatic temperature screeners can read temperatures in less than two seconds from up to three feet away.  High accuracy thermal sensor, with a low temperature tolerance and adjustable high temperature threshold while having proactive alerts provides immediate feedback.

This early detection allows affected individuals the opportunity to take all the precautionary measures necessary to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Additional information on what to expect from the Corporation regarding the CARE’s ACT and the associated expenditures will be posted frequently on our Facebook page and website.   Please check back often.
